1-EVIL WILL BE PUNISHED IN THE END
Though this saying is true, many people doubt it because they see wrongdoers prospering for a time. They see a dishonest merchant living in the lap of luxury. They see corrupt politicians or their descendants enjoying honor and wealth. They do not see the end they do not see what goes on inside the heart and conscience of criminals Lately we have seen many wrongdoers who thought they would never be punished receive the treatment their crimes merited under the old regime politicians who made fortunes out of national disasters have had their ill-gotten wealth confiscated others who treated their posts as opportunities for receiving bribes have been deprived of their political rights for long period And there an old Greek proverb that says, “the mils of the gods grind slowly but they grind exceedingly small” it may be slow, but it comes surely and its effects are felt in every way. 2-Rumours Many people like to think that they only know a special bit of news that is unknown to others. so strong is this liking that they eagerly accept any story regardless of whether it is true or not and then go about spreading the story or Rumours in this way Rumours spread very rapidly and for the same reason Rumours we find are born. Rumours do not spring from the air, someone or some group invents them, with a purpose, rumours always attack a person .a company, a religion a government or a nation the higher up a person is the more Rumours he can expect against him, if a government has enemies they will spread all kinds of stories about them trying to do them harm to make them unpopular to deprive them of authority in, in commerce a merchant may attack his rival saying his shop is dirty or that he cheats in weight in factories one hears that the products of this factory are badly made and do not last long. We hear Rumours most often during a war some men are especially employed to invite them. They say a battle or a ship has been lost many men were wounded in an ambush in one part of the country a factory has been burnt .the enemy has a new weapon there are all sorts of things said by this Rumours factory .the purpose is obvious it is desired to weaken the courage and the desire to fight of the enemy. For our part if we wish to be reasonable if we don’t wish to be deceived by wicked men we should distinguish between official news and Rumours 3-Honesty We all know what a man honest man is he pays way that is he pays his debts as they fall due. He certainly doesn’t deceive anyone or tell lies with that view in mind he is known to be honest and so is reliable. If his name is mentioned in any society ,it is respected and he enjoys the benefits of this good reputation he can get credit either from the local shopkeeper or if he is merchant from the bank Honesty is especially needed in government officials we have read of the trials of those who were accused of dishonesty in the past era, when officials takes bribes they really steal money from the people. the merchant who pays for a special favour add the payment the price he charges for his goods and the people have to pay more for them bribery increase the coast of living Honesty is very necessary in the courts of law there can be no justice without it and justice is a pillar of society if witnesses give false evidence if the judge expects a present there can be done only injustice this can make the people seek private vengeance in commerce it destroys trust and credit which is the lifeblood of trade dishonest law courts ruin the international reputation of a country just as honesty in giving judgment brings honor to a nation People cannot be made honest suddenly or by a law of parliament they become honest by habit dishonesty must be exposed to public scorn and the wrong doers swiftly punished men should not be allowed to hide stolen wealth by exporting it abroad or by putting it on the name of their wives or relatives the arm of retribution must be long as it must be swift for it is only when people are really convinced that crime does not pay that they cease to attempt to come by ill-gotten wealth and the police and the law court must be always on the watch for the danger of dishonesty is a lesson that some people have to learn in every generation 4-Vagabonds Vagabonds are a class of people who live by begging or stealing they don’t stay in one place but wander about from street village-to-village and town-to-town A vagabond is easily recognizable by his untidy appearance his clothes are stained with dirt and rain his coat is usually of a different material from his trousers it is usually a faded brown or blue with or without buttons His trousers have lost all shape and are very often gathered in from the knee downwards they maybe a faded khaki the poor man carries a small handle on his back containing a tin cup to boil his tea or coffee an old dirty blanket and perhaps old overcoat By day he walks many miles begs for money and food ****ters under trees from the sun or rain and sleep in ditches or hedges Sometimes they from little groups and we see them round small fire cooking the food they have begged or the birds or animals they have caught they maybe seen emptying their tins and counting the cigarette-ends they have collected A vagabond is an example of a thoroughly selfish useless individual some of them are eager obtain some work so they may be earn a regular wage and lead and honest life like other workers other men are vagabonds because they are lazy worthless men 5-Friendship There is a difference between friends and acquaintances and they are the people whom we meet from the time to time and with whom engage in a few words on this or that topic an acquaintance does not occupy a great place in our minds we meet him and then forget him but a friend is a very close acquaintance he means much to us he shares our sorrows and our joys we confide in trust him and if he is worthy of the name of friends he respects our confidence history provides us with example of true friendship Greek history tells us of Damon and pythias their friendship was perfect one had complete trust in the other one must ready to die for other ordinary friendship to a test like that the ordinary friend is not likely die for his friend really we cant expect it it’s not good for a man to be alone without a friend life is usually look for someone to help us a friend “a friend in need is to friend indeed” is an old proverb a little worn by time but it’s truth still holds unless a friend stands by us in time of trouble then he is no friend he is merely a sort of .acquaintance. 6-Liberty Liberty is a word on the lips of millions of people today because the world has just emerged from a war that threatened the liberty of most of us, during that war millions of people lost their liberty because their country was occupied by an enemy force and thousands of them were thrown into concentration camps as if they were criminals Man is by nature a free person and anything that threatens his freedom rouses his fierce opposition his fierce opposition history is full of examples of man’s struggle for liberty-to liberty worship god in his own way; liberty to govern his country in his own way; liberty to live in his own way no country likes to be under the rule of another the thought of it is hateful the opposite of liberty is slavery what contrast one man is free , another is a slave what a world of difference between these two men there former within the limits of the law of course can arrange his life as he wishes he can think as he wishes he can worship god as he wishes he can belong to any political party as e wishes consider the slave he must live as his master wishes he must think as his master thinks he can hold no political opinions because he has no part in the government of his country There we see the value of liberty and hatefulness of its lack it is the difference between night an day 7- The Freedom of the Press The freedom of the press denotes the liberty of political writers to express the freedom of the press was undreamed of those who dared to critics the government were mercilessly punished or even put to death everything to be published had to be licensed by authorities freedom of the press was won gradually and only after a great struggle its advocates suffered much persecution with the spread of education and growth of democracy the censorship of the press was abolished except in war-time. If political writers are free to express their thought the public is honesty informed of what happens and despotic acts cannot be concealed the opportunity of defending themselves and gaining public sympathy the freedom of the press ensures an honest and just government and thus national development proceeds satisfactorily The freedom of the press however has it’s disadvantages some papers publish libels they make attacks upon the reputation of the members of other parties some papers mislead the public and distort the truth, others sink to a very low moral tone. Educated intelligent and honourable writers must conduct newspapers, they must be possessed of consideration for justice and truth and hatred for oppression and wrong are restrictions on the press necessary in the case? Give your own opinion 8-Looking in the Mirror Everyone must look in the mirror especially in the morning helps him to brush his hair clean his teeth and put on his collar and fez. Without a mirror it would be difficult to shave oneself without cutting one’s face with a razor or leaving part of the face unshaved, ladies have greater need of a mirror than men for their faces require more careful preparation, if person is continually gazing at himself in a mirror it is sign that he is vian and proud of his appearance, a mirror tells a sad story woman who is growing old, for it shows her the gradual increase of the numbers of wrinkles across her forehead and around her eyes. 9-Laughter in times of unhappiness anxiety or sickness there is no doubt that a hearty laugh is a kind of medicine modern children are encouraged to laugh freely ,doctors say it is good for health; it expands the chest and strengthens the lungs . a cheerful man who can make people laugh is welcome everywhere ,no one wishes to be visited by a man who never laughs ,and talks only of miserable things . Laughter enables people to look upon the future with courage and hope whereas if their thoughts are sad, their troubles are sure to increase, when we laugh we should laugh at the right moments and at the right thing without hurting other’s feelings. 10- FEAR it is doubtful if anything causes so much trouble as fear. It’s fear that makes the nations arm against one another, it’s generally fear that makes them go to war; it is fear of losing their money or their health or something of that kind that makes many people miserable if we could do away with most of the unhappiness, that exists among human beings what is true of human beings is also true of animals, a lion meets a man and it attacks him, not that it wants to kill him for killing’s sake but it fears him, and it’s springs upon him to destroy him before he can do it any injury Prepared by : Mona22 |
